'The Last Defenders' is a series of films on environmental defenders under attack in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The Philippine episode follows the rangers and officers of Masungi Georeserve, a nature sanctuary near Metro Manila. It serves as a vital watershed that helps prevent floods and landslides affecting over 14 million people. Everyday, the Masungi team must defend against illegal developments and encroaching quarries inside the protected zones. Threats become reality as their forest rangers are violently attacked.
